Then role of innovation system in reaching food and nutrition security

Securing African Food and Nutrition requires a fundamental shift of paradigms, from integrating agribusiness to considering urban regions both as solutions and as challenges. This was also reflected during the discussions, leading to the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP), as part of the EXPO 2015 (October 15th) events in Milan. Recent international organizations’ research and reports on strategies for tackling Food Insecurity, claim that, as the world’s population will rises to three-quarters urban by 2050, new city-centric approaches to understanding global and Metropolitan Food Systems (MFS) are needed to ensure the production, distribution and delivery of food to the growing number of urbanites.
